Who will you choose?

The New Zealand Institute of Valuers, NZIV, was established in 1939 and is New Zealand’s professional property institution. The Institute sets the high standards in ethics and discipline you can expect from the professional practices of its members.
It furthers continuing education amongst its membership, enabling members to keep up with local and global changes. The Institute represents practitioners in the areas of land and property valuation and land economy. NZIV members will describe their status within the institute after their signature and on their business cards.

What does membership mean?

How does it provide you with peace of mind? NZIV members are skilled professionals. Qualified educationally, they have served a period of rigorous training, passed examinations and are encouraged to follow up with annually accredited Continuing Professional Development. They are persons of the highest professional integrity performing their services to rigorous standards set by the Profession and practice under the discipline of Valuers’ Registration Board.
This provides you with the certainty that the NZIV member you choose to undertake the valuation of your property, or provide you with property advice, has the necessary educational training and competence.
As a client of a NZIV member you are protected by the strong Code of Ethics, designed and enforced by the Institute, which provides for effective disciplinary measures in the event of breaches by members.
Members are encouraged to carry professional Indemnity Insurance which provides you with additional security.
Valuation Standards. A measure of Protection for all!
The Institute has in place Practice Standards for various valuation assignments, including standards for: valuations for residential property mortgage valuations for residential property valuations for suburban commercial property valuations for rural property valuations for financial statements.
